UROLOGY TRAINING under the guidance of Dr. med. Martin Kanne.
The endourological laser center (ELZ), established in 2020, specializes in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and urinary stone disease. In order to effectively address these increasingly common conditions in society, modern medicine has developed increasingly gentle and safer methods. The use of high-performance holmium lasers plays a crucial role in this regard.
In the urology department of the KEH, the team around Prof. Dr. med. Frank Friedersdorff and Dr. med. Martin Kanne has extensive experience with these treatment procedures. Therefore, regularly organized internationally attended workshops and educational events, known as JenaSurgical ACADEMY, take place at KEH.

Dr. Martin Kanne, MD, began his medical journey at the University of Marburg, continuing his studies in Spain and Ecuador before earning his degree from the University of Cologne. Specializing in urology since 2005, he now leads the Endourological Laser Centre as a Senior Physician at KEH Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge. Dr. Kanne is renowned for his expertise in urology, highlighted by his pivotal role in establishing and maintaining the Laser Center’s ISO Din 9001 certification.
With unparalleled expertise, Dr. Kanne ensures optimal care for his patients, leveraging his active membership in prestigious organizations such as the German Society for Urology and the European Association of Urology, along with his Fellowship in the European Board of Urology (EBU). With over 1,500 prostate holmium laser enucleations (HoLEP) to his credit, Dr. Kanne’s dedication to advancing urological care is evident through his contributions and regular hosting of national and international workshops.
